Silver Maple Leaf

Background

First minted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coin is the most well-known Canadian silver coin. It is the second most famous silver coin, just behind the American Silver Eagle coin. The Government of Canada issues these coins annually. Since their original minting, there have been three standard editions and several multiple special edition versions of the coin. New security measures have been added starting in 2014 that include radial lines and micro-engraved laser marks. These coins are a great way to hedge against inflation and invest in a tangible asset.

Design

Out of all the silver coins on the market, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is one of the most beautiful silver coins and is popular partially for this reason. The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse side of the coin. Different versions of the coin depict the Queen in three different versions: one as her older, middle-aged, and young. In addition to the bust of the Queen, there are engravings of the year of issue and the value of the coin. On the reverse side, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf features a depiction of the national symbol of Canada, a sharply defined Maple Leaf. This coin is unique in that it is sold in packs of 25 pieces in tubes. This is to fulfill the growing demand for these coins.
